3rd March 2011 - Strathclyde Police Withdraw from competition

It is with regret that Lomond & Clyde Pipe Band has been faced with the disappointment of having one of our competitors withdraw from our Grade One Invitational competition.

Strathclyde Police Pipe Band has now officially informed us that they cannot commit to attending our competition on the 19th March. The band have cited work commitments and an engagement that they must commit to on the same day of the competition as their two main reasons for withdrawing.

Although there has been ongoing dialogue between Strathclyde Police and ourselves since December; Lomond & Clyde Pipe band were not in a position to finalise or communicate the outcome of this matter until these ongoing discussions had been concluded.

Lomond & Clyde Pipe Band would like to wish Strathclyde Police Pipe Band every success in the forthcoming competing season.

Lomond and Clyde are delighted to announce that our M/C for the day will be Mr John Wilson (Ex Strathclyde Police Pipe Band and world renowned piper and respected adjudicator).

Tickets are available for the event from ticket-scotland.com or through lomondandclyde.co.uk

10 Oct 2010 - Quartet Performs for Ex-members Retirement

The band were delighted to accept an invitation to provide a quartet to
perform at the retirement evening in honour of Bill Ferguson, in the
college of piping 9th October.

Bill, a former member of Lomond and Clyde, was a great ambassador for the band
who still remains highly regarded within the Lomond and Clyde family.
The evening started with a performance from Milngavie Novice juvenile pipe band, giving a very enjoyable set under the direction of Pipe Major Peter Maxwell.
Next to go on stage was the Grade 3 band of Milngavie - of which Bill has just retired - and in a fitting gesture Bill was asked on stage to perform in the last set the band played.   Jim "Stix" Moore gave a very fitting tribute of Bill’s 60 years in pipe bands and a presentation was made. Alister Grame from Milngavie pipe band compared the evening, with great humour and many fitting stories.

The evening’s performances came to a conclusion with the quartet from Lomond
and Clyde giving a very enjoyable performance in Bills honour.

It was noted on the night that Bill his daughter Sheila and son Alistair all
played in Lomond and Clyde in seasons 2000 and 2001.
